How Often Should I Clean My Mechanical Keyboard?

Cleaning your mechanical keyboard can help preserve its functionality and prevent physical hardware degradation. However, you don’t have to clean your keyboard all that often to prevent negative wear-and-tear. How often should you clean it? Let’s take a look at that.

Light Cleaning

Light cleaning involves banging out anything that’s gotten under the keycaps but doesn’t involve taking the keyboard apart to clean it. You can get away with doing some light cleaning about once a week to every two weeks.

Deep Cleaning

Deep cleaning involves taking the keycaps off and possibly taking the switches out to clean the sockets. You should do this every four to six weeks.
