I’ve been using a Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 computer for work for around three years now and I love it. While it might be time for an upgrade in the near future, I’m still in love with this computer and I’d like to tell you about it if you’re looking for an affordable computer with decent specs. Let’s dive right in.
Price
When the computer first released, it retailed for $1,800 and that’s how much I paid for it. However, since then, the price has dropped to a mere $1,190 on Amazon, which is still not chump change, don’t get me wrong. However, for a relatively powerful and ultra-thin notebook computer, this is a very fair price. With the exception of not having a discrete graphics card, the computer has high-powered specifications that enable it to handle many tasks that require more processing power, such as programming or gaming as long as you don’t push the graphics processing too hard. At its current price point, it’s a steal.
CPU Specs
The CPU in Galaxy Book Pro 360 is a 2.8 GHz i7 notebook model. It’s not the strongest CPU in the galaxy, but for a notebook it’s on the upside. Typically to get power above this you have to really shell out or get a desktop computer.
Touch Screen
I, admittedly, don’t use the touch screen all that often. Since there’s no way to disable the touch screen’s finger input, I’ve even taken to uninstalling the software if it becomes too problematic. However, I do use the active stylus that comes with the computer. The problem with touch input is that it’s not very precise and tasks that require fine motor skills like drawing would be difficult with your fingers. However, the stylus completely changes the game and was one of the primary reasons I bought this model.
Active Stylus
The S Pen stylus that comes with the Galaxy Book Pro 360 is sleek, modern, and feels great in the hand. It is a little thinner than other styli I’ve used, which took some getting used to. However, I wouldn’t want to change the size after adjusting to it more effectively.
360 Hinge
One feature I didn’t think I would like as much as I do is the 360-degree hinge on the computer. While being able to turn the computer into a functional tablet was certainly a nice bonus feature, I actually found myself using the hinge to turn the computer into an all-in-one PC instead. By tilting the hinge back, I can stand the computer up and attach a keyboard and mouse, which makes the computer more comfortable to use.
Keyboard
I will say, I hated the keyboard on this laptop. Swapping the keyboard out for a more functional and practical mechanical keyboard was one of the best choices I ever made. However, in the event that I have to use the laptop keyboard, the keyboard does have everything I need to be happy. The full-sized keyboard was another reason I picked this specific model of laptop. I use the NumPad often and many laptops don’t include that nowadays. So, the extra cost for the functionality of the NumPad was important.
Summary
While at its original MSRP, the laptop was quite expensive, at its current, reduced price the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 is a real steal. It has a powerful CPU, a full-sized keyboard, a touch screen that works with the active S Pen Stylus (which is included in the box!), and a 360-degree hinge that allows for multiple configurations.
