Allowing Myself to Have Little Wins

You know what today’s little win was? I’ve gotten up on time four days in a row. That’s the longest streak of me getting up on time that I’ve had in months. I’m hoping to keep riding this high as tomorrow I will be trying to wake up one hour earlier than I was before so that I will have time to exercise in the mornings.

Sleep is one of the most difficult parts of my health. I have extremely severe insomnia and require a smattering of chemicals introduced to my nervous system in order to coax it into the land of dreams. Currently, I take two pharmaceutical sleep medications, four over-the-counter supplements, and I still need to smoke hella dank to get my body in a space where it can sleep comfortably. In a pinch, I can forego the weed, but if I do, I will wake up every two hours or so.

So having the appropriate sleep hygiene that lets me get up on time four days in a row is actually quite a big win for me! What’s a little win you had today?
