(current) content plan #5

i mostly use this website as a portfolio, which might be noticeable in the sense that i don’t post many blogs. i’d like to though. i’ve always wanted to have a blog that was active and posting regular content. so, i think i’m going to develop a content plan and start pushing regular content about my life, interests, and hobbies.

i’ve done major content overhauls on this blog before and we won’t be doing that. instead, we’ll be combining all of the previous attempts into a single, uniform content plan that targets all of the content we’ve previously trialed.

why we’re combining previous content plans

the thing that stopped me most from continuing my content plans in the past was simply time and effort. without going too deep into my personal life and health issues, i’m profoundly disabled and this can make it hard to keep up with a strict content plan. however, i think if enough planning is put into the content plan to develop a front-loaded backlog of articles, we can create a space of leeway where i don’t need to be so heavily pressured to keep up with a rigid schedule.

as for why we’re combining content plans instead of choosing a previous content plan and continuing it, simply put, i enjoy too many things. i have a lot of interests and it’s hard to put together a content plan that captures my attention and keeps me interested.

i think the obvious thing to do would be to focus my content plan on my special interests. that would be the most mentally rewarding plan to put together and execute. i’ll also need to develop a strong backlog of content to post, which will give me leeway to rest between pieces.

here’s the types of content i intend to include in the plan:

  1. keyboard reviews: keebs are one of my primary special interests. i plan to restart the keyboard review content and the goal will be to put out one keyboard review per week.
  2. self-care apps: as someone who struggles greatly with self-care, i’m always interested in trying new apps that might reduce the friction of self-care in my mind.
  3. video game content: i will actually start doing game reviews again. this means i’ll be trying new games, completing my backlog, and talking about my journey as i complete my backlog.
  4. language learning blogs: i’m also studying new languages and i’d like to document my weekly progress and talk about what i’ve been doing to improve my language skills.
  5. cannabis posts: i’m also a passionate cannabis advocate and enthusiast. i’ll be posting new cannabis content weekly, including strain reviews, dispensary reviews, and edible reviews!
  6. daily life blog post: these posts can’t be automated in advance, but i think they’ll be good for my mental well-being. i’ve always dreamed of having an active blog about my life, and as a writer, there’s never a bad time to do more writing. since i don’t have any clients right now, i might as well treat myself as a client!
